Tattoo Removal Pre / Post Guide

Pre Treatment

Welcome to Hair & Skin Laser Solutions, to ensure safety and the results you desire, please review the information before your treatment appointment.    Feel free to contact the clinic or your assigned technician with questions.

1.    No sun exposure 4 weeks prior to your appointment, If you have used Accutane (Acne Medication) or Retinol A products please advise your technician.

2.    Shave the hair from the area where that tattoo is located, do NOT apply any gels, creams or oils.    Please purchase a container of Vaseline OR Aquaphor, both of which can be purchased in either grocery or drug stores and will be applied over the tattoo after the laser procedure.    If you have allergies to either product please advise the clinic.

Post Treatment

1.    After your procedure, the technician will apply one of the above two product to keep the treated area from drying out.     No bathing or shower for at least 24 hours after the procedure, you may wash the treated area after the waiting period gently with a light soap and water, do NOT soak the area for 3 days after the procedure.

2.    If crusting is evident, do not rub or shave the area until it has passed.   Avoid any contact sports that can cause injury to the area, use sun block of at least 30 SPF over the area if sun exposure can’t be avoided.    Keep the area clean and covered with a non sticky gauze.

3.     Do not rub or exfoliate the area until 5-8 days have passed.

4.     Your tattoo may appear darker OR lighter for a few days, but will slowly fade over a 6-8 week period before the next session.

5.     Subsequent session can be preformed 4-8 weeks apart depending on the location of the tattoo and your progress.

6.     Should a blister develop avoid popping it, allow it to go away on its own, advise your tech on your next visit.   Depending on the colour some minor bleeding may occur.

7.     Apply AquaPhor or Vaseline twice a day for 1 week after the treatment. This is a crucial step that will ensure the treated area is hydrated and protected.
